Plaint by 61 Chinese, employed under the German Gov-

erment living in Sha Nai Shung House behind

the hill.

The German official recruited the labourers

from China with fair words. There were 11 conditions

monthly salary was to be $15 or $16 gold, the work-

ing hours 10 daily except Sunday (a holiday) that

passages to and back, provisions and medicines will

be supplied by the Government the period of engage-

ment to be 3 years with good treatment. On arrival
